Robert Mueller was flustered and at lost many time asking lawmakers to repeat their questions at House Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday July 24, 2019.
The conclusion is a failure for the Democrats who expected to make political gain from this hearing session against Donald Trump for the next Presidential Election of 2020.

THE WORLD FILM FESTIVAL AND SERGE LOSIQUE- 2019

July 23, 2019

THE WORLD FILM FESTIVAL AND SERGE LOSIQUE- 2019
By Bernard Bujold –
If there is one event that has made my life in recent decades more culturally enriching, it is the Montreal World Film Festival.
I started attending the event as a spectator in the early 1990s when the festivities were in full swing Montreal and the opening party was held with all the fireworks at the Mont Royal chalet. Later, in the early 2000s, I covered the FFM as a journalist. I met wonderful people there, including Isabelle Adjani (2004 and 2016), Gérard Depardieu (2002, 2005 and 2010) and his daughter Julie (2003), and several other film stars.
Slowly, I unfortunately also observed the decline as the event began to move away from the grandiose lustre of Place des Arts towards Imperial Cinema around the 2010’s. The 2018 edition was the most sober and the most reduced…
We must acknowledge and appreciate the enormous courage of Serge Losique, who never gave up despite the attacks of other event organizers such as Alain Simard of Spectra in 2005, who tried to replace the FFM with his own festival, or many public servants such as Monique Simard of SODEQ, who did everything possible to eliminate public funding for the FFM. Serge Losique never gave up in front of his opponents’ attacks. One could conclude that it is the opponents who are responsible for the death of the FFM. Personally, I have always defended the character Serge Losique.
I will always be grateful to him for allowing me to get to know the Adjani, Depardieu and others through his event, even if only for the duration of a festival.
Sadness must be deep for Serge, 87 years old. Another acquaintance of mine, Frank Stronach, also 87, said in an interview during the last weekend (July 20, 2019) about his own life: “You can only die in peace if you know you have done the right thing.” (To die in peace, you have to believe that you have fulfilled your destiny well.) Serge Losique saw his destiny transformed and his work destroyed by enemies who appeared for no reason other than the desire to conquer him and take his place.
The press release announcing the absence of the 2019 Festival mentions the return in 2020…
To be continued!

WORKERS IN MONTREAL

WORKERS IN MONTREAL
By Bernard Bujold –
The McCord Museum’s annual exhibition, 2019 edition, of old photographs on McGill College Street presents various workers who worked in Montreal in the early 1900s and 1930s.
If there is one conclusion, it is that the Montreal economy was very successful during this period surrounding the First World War. Today, all these companies that used to employ hundreds of people no longer exist. The industrial era has given way to the technological era….

DESTINATION PLANET MARS – 2019
By Bernard Bujold –
After the Moon in 1969, in 2019 explorers are targeting the planet Mars! If it takes about 4 days to reach the Moon, it will take 6 months to reach Mars. President Donald Trump would like NASA to reach Mars by 2024, but some experts believe it will take until 2040 to achieve the feat with humans. Anyway: “Humanity is on the way to new adventures…”!

DESTINATION MOON – JULY 1969
By Bernard Bujold-
On the Day of July 16 in 1969, three men started their travel to the the Moon. At 9:32 a.m. EDT, Apollo 11 launched from Florida, taking commander Neil Armstrong, lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin and command module pilot Michael Collins on a mission for the history books – a mission to become the first humans to land on another celestial body.
Four days later, on July 20Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the Moon, while Michael Collins remained aboard the command module in lunar orbit.

THE PARK IN THE CITY

July 16, 2019

THE PARK IN THE CITY…
By Bernard Bujold –
It was in 1992 and Paul Desmarais Sr. had just inaugurated a small park next to the building of his newspaper La Presse at the corner of Notre-Dame and St-Laurent. Pierre Péladeau was jealous of this park and asked me to ask the director of La Presse, who was a personal friend from my time as a journalist (Claude Masson 1941-1999), about the costs of such a project.
In 2019, all these people must turn in their graves because the pretty and romantic little park has changed its vocation. Once a European-style luxury symbol inspired by Power Corp.’s decoration at the World Trade Centre, today the park has become a simple resting place for the homeless in the neighbourhood and a few tourists lost in Old Montreal….
