VISIT AT THE MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ART

November 27, 2017

VISIT AT THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS OF MONTREAL – November 2017 –
By Bernard Bujold-
It was a time when my home was decorated in western style, when I attended the world of horse and I collected Rémington art…
If I changed my life and fashion decoration, I continue to enjoy the western spirit and I wanted to visit the exhibition of the Museum of Fine Arts of Montreal: “ONCE UPON A TIME… THE WESTERN”; a new frontier in Art and Film.
Lovers of western movies will adore the exhibition of the Museum of Fine Arts and one could even say that this presentation would fit very well in a film festival like Cannes or elsewhere…
Unfortunately for me, only one Remington sculpture and it is not the most beautiful of his work!
Good visit at the museum …

MONTREAL FRENCH BOOK FAIR  2017 – THE AUTHORS-
By Bernard Bujold-
The 2017 Montreal French Book Fair held at Place Bonaventure from Wednesday, November 15 until Monday, November 20 brought together over 1800 authors present on site.
Passionate about writing and often discoveries for the general public.
Here are some photos of authors that I know and appreciate.
A very personal choice … especially since there were almost 2000 officially registered!

A FRIDAY NIGHT WITH KATHY REICHS …

November 20, 2017

A FRIDAY NIGHT WITH KATHY REICHS …
BY BERNARD BUJOLD –
An evening with Kathy Reichs at the Montreal Book Fair is always an evening of fun and friendship. At every edition of the French Montreal Book Fair, Kathy is the most popular author and the line up to greet her and ask for a signature is the longest of all. It must however be explained that Kathy is of a unique kindness and that her character Bones is a big star!
Personally, even though I loved all the books of Kathy and her character Bones, I prefer the one she just wrote in English: TWO NIGHTS and her new character SUNNIE …
For fans, Kathy Reichs will still be at the 2017 Montreal Book Fair on Saturday afternoon.

VALÉRIE PLANTE – OFFICIAL SWEARING-IN

November 17, 2017

VALÉRIE PLANTE – MAYOR OF MONTREAL –
By Bernard Bujold –
Valérie Plants is officially the Mayor of Montreal following her swearing-in on Thursday, November 16, 2017. The 2017 election campaign was dominated and won by Valérie Plante against outgoing mayor Denis Coderre and if the challenge was high for Valérie Plante, it was also achievable! As she says, “I never lost a race …” The new mayor is the first woman to occupy Montreal City Hall. Have a good mandate Valérie Plante!

HOLT RENFREW OGILVY STORE – MONTREAL

November 17, 2017

HOLT RENFREW OGILVY STORE – MONTREAL –
By Bernard Bujold –
The new building where Ogilvy will be co-located with Holt Renfrew on Ste Catherine Street in Montreal will only open in 2020. The two merged stores are owned by Galen Weston, the wealthiest Canadian family that also owns Provigo, Maxi and Pharmaprix. The son Galen Jr. was noticed a few years ago in advertisements he animated for Provigo.
In a sense, the Holt Renfrew Ogilvy project is very similar to LES AILES DE DE LA MODE with Paul Delage Roberge. An important difference, however, is the huge Weston fortune estimated at over $ 10.2 billion according to Forbes as of November 2017…

FRENCH BOOK FAIR OF MONTREAL – 2017

FRENCH BOOK FAIR OF MONTREAL – 2017
By Bernard Bujold-
The 2017 Montreal Book Fair is being held at Place Bonaventure from Wednesday, November 15 to Monday, November 20. More than 1800 authors are on site, including some internationally renowned as Kathy Reichs, one of those who annually attract the longest line up for signing!
We also note several more local stars and authors such as Jean Paré, Denis Monette, Gilles Archambault, Kim Thuy, Danielle Ouimet, Catherine Bourgault, Roxanne Bouchard, photographer Jacques Nadeau, Daniel Lessard, Fabrice Pierrebourg, Romeo Dallaire, Gilles Duceppe, Claudette Dion (Celine’s sister), the doctor Alain Vadeboncoeur, Réjean Tremblay, Denise Bombardier, Michel Jean, Dan Bigras, Serge Chapleau, and of course Louise Penny who is also one of the ten guests of honor of the Salon.
A fact to note, there are only two large newspapers present on site (Le Devoir and Le Journal de Montréal) that solicit subscriptions. La Presse + is still one of the sponsors but without, its traditional paper version …
Good Salon 2017 and good reading!
